8 months ago, Lost ended season 3 and had stirred up so many questions. Who is Naomi? Who does she work for? How come Penny didn't know her? Who was coming to the island?! I knew something bad was about to happen. And yet, Lost Nation was forced to wait 8 --- almost 9 months. This couldn't have been a better premiere. It made me cry, laugh, cringe, sigh, and smile. It was the perfect mix. We learn that 6 people definitely leave the island, Jack wants to grow a beard, Hurley is one of the six, among many other things.
It all started with a hot pursuit down a highway in the future with 3 cops, and a mean 70's red camaro. It eventually crashes. (What a disappointment, I know, but they seem to ruin the hottest cars in every great movie, so why not add that element to the greatest television drama?!) We then see a chubby hand come out the window in surrender. (Obviously, Hurley's.) Then Hurley steps out and runs. Doesn't get far. Is taken into custody for questioning. We then find out Hurley was running from something in a convenient store which was caught on tape. He sees Charlie swimming in the tinted window in the Police station. Screams. And the Officer sends Hurley to a mental institution. Not shocking, as we have seen him there before.
Charlie is definitely dead as much as I would love to deny it. He appears to visit Hurley in the future in the mental hospital. Charlie tries to talk to Hurley but he doesn't seem to listen. Hurley says "you're not real, you're dead" and Charlie goes "I am dead, but I am here" and Hurley says "prove it.." Charlie slaps Hurley. Charlie looks great as an apparition, by the way. He warns Hurley, and says "You're being a baby.." which made me giggle. It's nice to see someone have a sense of humor while they're dead and then he is gone. Hurley then goes to play some BBALL and in comes Jack. Oh, jearful Jack. What would we do without you? Probably look to another character to make up for the loss of tears no one else seems able to produce but you. Anyway...so, in comes Jack. He tells Hurley he considers growing a beard, like the one we all witnessed on the season 3 finale. Hurley says that they can't go back and then says they have to. Confusing. Jack says they're never going back to the island, gets upset, shockingly doesn't cry, and leaves.
Back on the island, the gang at the beach is all awaiting Charlie and Desmond's return. Dezzie returns. No Charlie. But, then Desmond explains that Naomi is not who we thought she was. Everyone freaks. Hurley gets upset. Throws radio in water. They all set out to the tower. Everyone up at the radio tower with Jack decides they need to find Locke. But then Naomi is missing. Kate hugs Jack. Ben watches. Ben sees Kate takes radio-phone. Jack doesn't notice until later. Problem. Kate finds Naomi. Naomi recalls her ship and they confirm they are indeed on their way. Ben snickers about how he knows what happened to the radio-phone and Jack gets mad. Meanwhile Hurley gets lost in the jungle and finds himself at Jacobs casa. Uh-to-the-Oh. He then finds Locke. (Mistahh Locke as Walt would say.) Everyone seems to eventually stumble upon one another.
Then the showdown begins. Locke and Hurley come out of the woods and BAM! Locke is punched in the face by a jearful Jack. Sawyer and Sayid break it up. Rose and Bernard, and, Sun and Jin, reunite and embrace. Claire stands holding baby Aaron looking around aimlessly. Hurley breaks the news to Claire. Lost fans cry. Jack sheds a few jears, but hey, we can't blame him this time. There's two sides to the islanders now. Locke's side, the ones who want to stay on the island. The ones who believe Charlie died for a reason. They know they aren't supposed to leave the island. And then there's Jack's side. Those who want to be rescued. The ones who truly believe they are about to be saved. The island seems to mean nothing to them as of now. Locke says "If you want to live, you NEED to come with me." He decides the barracks are the safest location on the island currently. Locke recruits Hurley, Claire, Ben, Danielle, Alex, Carl, and Sawyer from what I remember. Kate says "What are you doin Sawyer?!" ...*southern accent* "Doing what I've always done Kate, survivin'." Rose mumbles "I'm not going with that crazy man." and her and Bernard stay on Jack's side. There were other people on both sides as well. So now there is a HUGE dispute between Locke and Jack. Man of Faith vs. the Man of Science.
The story ended with a sneak peek to next week. One of the new characters parachutes onto the island. He says "We can't say saving your people is our primary objective..." and of course Jack flips noodles and goes "WELL THEN WHAT IS?!" *BUMMMMM*LOST ENDING NOISE KIND OF SOUNDING LIKE A DRUM BUT NOT REALLY*. Insane. Completely insane. That was one of the most suspenseful episodes of Lost i've ever seen. This will truly be a great season.
I will be posting icons from the season premiere shortly***
